While I believe that Value Driven Transcendence can work for anyone, the only person who can truly answer this question is you. Therefore, the best answer is: put it into practice and see for yourself. The great thing about Value Driven Transcendence is that it becomes more effective the more that you practice it. In fact, it is through the effectiveness of this personal application that Value Driven Transcendence demonstrates its true power.

  • “Most personal leadership development is pretty idealistic…how is this different?”

The first thing I want to do is thank you for calling out the elephant in the room. I agree with you completely. I spent the first four years of my coaching career working for a company who taught: “Change your thinking and change your life.” I learned very quickly that it was going to take more than that to get solid results.

I also coached dozens of people during the time when the movie “The Secret” was most popular. I have seen positive thinking disempower people by cloaking the reality of their lives behind a rose-colored looking glass of denial.

I have nothing against positive thinking or creative visualization. However, it can quickly become denial if it is keeping you from confronting the reality of your life as it is right now, which is a crucial element of personal leadership development. Thinking will never attract physical results into your life. Actions will, and it takes more than thoughts to lead someone to action.

Neuro Linguistic Programming and Self-Hypnosis are both powerful methods for making changes in one’s belief systems or patterns of thinking. However, both of them are going to leave you in the same place: with the need to take specific action in order to get the results that you want out of your life.

Anyone who has ever procrastinated knows that not all of our thoughts lead to actions. And anyone who has ever daydreamed or worried about something knows that not all of our thoughts attract physical results. However, actions always lead to results.

It is more than what we know, or what we think, or what we think we know, that leads us to action. It is also more than what we believe; plenty of people have beliefs that their actions do not support. The approach of Value Driven Transcendence is based on principles which are timeless and self-evident in motivating us to action, and to getting solid results.

  • “I know how this personal leadership development stuff works: people go to the seminars or read the books and they are all excited and motivated. However, after a few days or weeks it is just business as usual.  What is different about Value Driven Transcendence?”

This is a great observation and it addresses a very real issue within the personal leadership development industry. While there are always going to be people who read or hear things they do not put into practice, there are also a lot of personal leadership development approaches which are more theoretical than they are practical.

Most of the time, the people who teach these personal leadership development approaches blame the listeners for not being motivated or passionate or disciplined enough to follow through consistently in applying the strategies. However, the reality is that success has nothing to do with how motivated, disciplined, talented or ambitious a person is.

If an approach is failing the majority of the people who try to use it, the problem is with the approach. Over the span of my coaching career, I have seen hundreds of people try to apply personal leadership development theories which completely fail when life begins to happen.

I have always said that these theories are like pre-tax income: they look nice on paper, but there is nothing you can actually do with them.  They work well, until the difficult circumstances of life begin to test their integrity.

This is another great question. There are all kinds of personal leadership development experts teaching success philosophies, some that have credentials and some that have no credentials. However, since I have been in this business I have found that there is only one kind of credential that matters: results.

As a coach, I have worked with a lot of leaders and even personal leadership development “experts” who have all kinds of knowledge and education and who are great teachers. However, the thing I always go back to is the results they have produced for themselves and for other people. Value Driven Transcendence is not something I invented or dreamed up while reading personal development books. It is something I discovered through years of trial and error in my coaching of others, and in my own life.

If you are skeptical, my recommendation is this: put Value Driven Transcendence into practice and see for yourself. In reality, it’s not about me and it’s not about VQ Success. It’s about you and what you can accomplish in your life through the application of Value Driven Transcendence.

Actually, there is very little. Even if you never lead anyone but yourself, we now live in an age where leadership must become a way of life. In fact, leadership has a lot more to do with the way you lead your own life than the way that you lead others.

The recent epidemic of downsizing and the “recessions” of the early 21rst century are evidence that the Industrial Age is coming to a very rapid end. Constant change has now become a way of life, especially in regard to a person’s career. Because of this, there is an increasing need for the ability to lead and to manage our lives according to a sound set of principles that will create an unchanging core of character inside us.

This is the definition of personal leadership development, and it is the foundation upon which any great leader builds their life.
