This month, we am going to talk about something which the majority of people who are marketing on the internet are ignoring and ending up broke as a result. This one thing is the importance of an exclusive selling position or ESP.
If you look at over ninety percent of the businesses on the internet, you will see that they are all basically clones of one another. This is especially true in the business of information marketing. Hundreds and hundreds of people are repackaging information products as an attempt to strike it rich in the information marketing gold rush.
Here is the reality: the internet information marketing gold rush is over. Believe me, as a professional copywriter I have a back stage pass into the whole internet marketing drama.
A lot of it is smoke and mirrors , and customers are worn out with the onslaught of overpriced repackaged information products which are on the internet these days. That’s the bad news.
The good news is that information marketing is still a hot business. It always has been and it always will be and the internet has opened up all kinds of opportunities for the aspiring author or information marker.
However, in order to make sure that you are not one of the clones, you have to have a selling position which your competition CANNOT duplicate.
Most marketing experts call this the ‘unique selling position’ or USP. However, the term ’exclusive selling position’ is a better term because what you really need it more than something unique. You need something which is exclusive. This is the only way that you can survive in the fiercely competitive field of information marketing.
So how can you come up with your own ESP? Well, if I could tell you a uniform method it would not be exclusive now would it? However, there is something that you have that NO ONE else will ever have again, nor has anyone ever had it before you. That one thing is your personality. Think about all of the professional personalities in Hollywood, or on the radio or in the music business who don’t act or sing or dance or do whatever they do any better than some of the amateurs out there.
However, they are able to use the shear force of their personality to stand out and to build their own personal brand which makes them a fortune because there is not anyone who can duplicate it.
This is the most valuable foundation upon which you can establish your own Exclusive selling position.
