The Secret Part VIII:The Law of Contribution

4 March 2010

“Your willingness to give must be equally proportionate to your desire to receive.” -Seth Czerepak

Hey ! Welcome to the January 2010  issue of Genius in Leadership. If you are just tuning in to this series on Value Driven Transcendence be sure to read the previous entries on The Secret as well. In the previous entry, we talked about The Law of Elimination.

Now we move on to the third of the four laws of Value Driven Transcendence: the Law of Contribution. The law of Contribution is about giving the most valuable gift that you can give the world: yourself.

Contribution is the key to prosperity and wealth of every kind.

Just about everyone wants more of the good things that life has to offer: happiness, money, security, excitement, validation and good health. But all of these things have a price, and expecting something for nothing is a direct route to failure, frustration and poverty.

The Law of Contribution is what makes it possible to receive all of these things because it is the means by which we pay the price to have what we really want. There is not and never will be such a thing as something for nothing. This is a natural law that no amount of technology or wishful thinking will ever be able to overturn. But that’s not all, obeying the law of Contribution and paying the price for what we want also builds a stronger sense of value in our goal and makes it harder to us to give up on it.

And most important, The Law of Contribution also helps us build the character which will ensure that we keep and enjoy what we receive without being corrupted by it. Remember, who you become in life is more important and more valuable in every way than what you do or what you have.

History and the present are  full of examples of people who have talent which is grossly out of proportion to their character. Character, as mentioned in part one of this series, is your valuable asset and the one thing which nothing and nobody can ever take away from you. This is the foundation of Value Driven Transcendence and of the true Secret of Self-Confidence and success.

But as Napoleon Hill said, the Secret cannot be purchased at any price. Instead, you must pay the price in Contribution. Only then can you truly reap and enjoy the fruits of your success. There is no way around this.

Your willingness to give must be equally proportionate to your desire to receive.

However, the Law of Contribution alone is not enough to achieve self-confidence, fulfillment and success. If your life is not properly aligned by the Laws of Clarity and Elimination, you will end up giving out of scarcity instead of abundance. Such “giving” is the very thing which causes people to become enslaved by addictions and toxic relationships which they cannot escape.

But the more you give yourself the better you understand who you really are and the better sense you have of your purpose in the world. Complete self-actualization is not possible outside of the context of interaction with others, and this interaction is defined through both giving and receiving.

Of course, there is always the fear that one will give and not receive what they need in return. And to overcome this fear, you need more than just the laws of Clarity, Elimination and Contribution. Thus enters the fourth and final law of Value Driven Transcendence:

The Law of Perseverance.
